When should you hire Angular developers?
Hire them when you run, or are about to build, a large application with many contributors, strict structure and a long life. Angular is a full framework with its own router, forms, dependency injection and tooling, and the team conventions it imposes are the reason enterprises choose it. The current stable line is Angular 22, with a 24 month support window for each major, so old versions fall out of support faster than many teams plan for.
What do we vet in an Angular developer?
- Signals. Writing state with
signal, computedandeffect, and knowing when RxJS is still the better tool. Replacing every observable with a signal is not the goal. - Standalone components. Building without NgModules, lazy loading routes, and untangling an older module graph.
- Change detection. What zone.js does, how
OnPushbehaves, and how to move toward zoneless change detection without breaking third party code. - RxJS discipline. Unsubscribing, flattening operators, and avoiding nested subscribes that leak and race.
- Forms and typing. Typed reactive forms, validation that scales, and strict TypeScript settings.
- Build and test. The current build tooling, lazy bundles, and a test setup that does not need a browser for every unit.
What do Angular developers do in the first weeks?
Upgrades dominate. Angular majors arrive on a fixed schedule, and a project that skipped a few has a staircase to climb.
| Situation | First tasks |
|---|---|
| AngularJS (version 1.x) app | Plan a gradual path: run both frameworks side by side and move feature by feature |
| Angular on an unsupported major | Upgrade one major at a time, fix the breaking changes, and keep the release pipeline green |
| NgModule heavy application | Convert to standalone components in the order that reduces risk |
| Slow large application | Add OnPush, lazy load routes, review RxJS streams, and test zoneless on one feature |
AngularJS is a different framework from modern Angular, and a rewrite of the user interface is often cheaper than a long hybrid period. We say which path we see after reading the code.
Version drift is the cost most teams underestimate. A skipped major is rarely one bad afternoon. Libraries pin to old Angular versions, Node requirements move, and the test runner changes with the builder. A developer who has done several upgrades knows which of these to check before opening the first branch, and that is the main thing we screen for in this role.
How can you engage an Angular developer?
- Dedicated developer. One engineer fits into your sprint and review process.
- Team extension. Several Angular engineers join an existing group on a long programme. Our IT staff augmentation page explains the model.
- Scoped project. A defined upgrade or a new module, owned by one team. For larger programmes see hire a dedicated team.
Work starts after a short intro call, where we agree the Angular version, the repository access and who reviews the first pull request. If you are weighing Angular against other frameworks, the comparisons for React vs Angular and Angular vs Vue lay out the trade-offs. Our frontend development services cover whole projects, and hire frontend developers lists the other roles.
